BP Cares

It does. Really.

Look at this Twitter:

Alright, back to work everyone! It's World Ocean Day! Everybody do your part! #BPrebrand with picture

I don't know what all this fuss is about. BPCares. It really, really does. I mean it timed its twitter and the 50th day of this oil spill to fall exactly on World Ocean Day. Not just any company can do that you know.

If that moving tribute to the world's oceans didn't move you, well, hang on. I have more for you below the fold.

I am not sure why you all insist on reading and watching the developments in the Gulf.

I mean, really, what the hell can you learn by watching that BORING spillcam for hours on end? I mean come on. Get a life.

Instead, you can find out exactly what BP is doing by following it on Twitter. And oh, there's a Facebook page too, I liked it.

And BPCares has its own T-shirts so you can show your love wherever you go. This wonderful effot has raised more than $10,000 in sales that is going to the Gulf Restoration Network.

See? REST-OR-A-TION. All from BPCares T-shirts. $10,000. Wow. Gotta hand it to BPGlobalPR, what a great effort. It really does care.

Over the past few weeks, I have been moved to tears as I have seen the very best of this effort shine through from just a few words Tweeted across the universe...

(oh, wait, it's over capacity... Too many Tweets - I mean how can you doubt this caring? Plus they show a happy whale carried by beautiful doves over the sea while I am waiting....)

We're back. Of course, Its first thought is of safety, because BPCares.

BPGlobalPR Safety is our primary concern. Well, profits, then safety. Oh, no- profits, image, then safety, but still- it's right up there.

And its loyal supporters.

BPGlobalPR Words can not express how sorry we are. So we are going to stop apologizing and just give our investors 10 billion dollars.

It sees hope everywhere, and never misses an opportunity to make things better.

BPGlobalPR Found driftwood that looks like Jesus crying oil. Not sure what it means but we're charging 20 bucks to see it. #bpcares

Sometimes we even have pictures.

BPGlobalPR We'd like to thank David Vitter for his support, nobody knows more about drilling in the wrong places. Look here

And it is keeping the stress down for Tony, who has given so much of himself to this cause.

BPGlobalPR Money can't buy happiness. But Tony Hayward did buy a giant yacht he calls 'Happiness'. It has a frickin' helicopter pad on it!

Well, while BP buys up teh Google to ensure we all have accurate information at the click of a mouse, it appears an imposter has started spoofing BP. Yea. A spoofer. Who would do such a thing?

BPGlobalPR Not sure what we've done wrong, but we've been asked to change our name/profile to indicate that we're "fake". Yesterday at 5:29pm via Smart Twitter for Pages

So this wonderful effort at caring, with its Tweets to almost 150,000 followers and Profile Updates to 899 people - its all-around generous contribution of information to this effort - is being told to say it is a fake.

Can this nightmare get any worse? First the oil, then the dispersants, now this?

I called  Newsweek. They put their top journalists on the case, and tried to straighten the whole thing out. Which BP really cares? Who is telling the truth? Who is really the FAKE here?

You decide.
