Hi folks -
Yesterday I told you about the wonderful effort that a group called Matter of Trust is doing down south in the Gulf.
In a nutshell, they are gathering human, animal fur and hair and stuffing the legs of ladies' pantyhose with it and dragging it over the oil and it is picking it up successfully.
They need your hair and pantyhose - and $$ donations if you can spare them.
Where to send is below the fold!
IF YOU HAVE HAVE HAIR TO SEND TO THE GULF...You can UPS, FEDEX, USPS - until MAY 18th (CURRENT DEADLINE)TO:
HAIR FOR BOOM B Qs 921 Canal St. New Orleans, LA. 70112

PLEASE do not mail to here after May 18th without consulting us. We will be reevaluating the oil slick and availability of locations. And, we may have another address on the East Coast of Florida that need hair by then if the slick moves that way.

Don't have a clue what I am talking about? Go to my diary from yesterday: BOOM goes the oil spill - a Way for Anyone, Anywhere to Help
And I learned a little bit more about this whole cleaning-up-oil-spills-with-hair-thing, which I understand began about 10 years ago, but never really caught on. Once the oil is absorbed by the hair, Matter of Trust has a way to get it fed to earthworms who, in turn, create natural fertilizer.
I am serious. Look. You can buy the poop from these awesome worms (make sure you scroll down, the page looks empty, but scroll down and you will see awesome things - I promise!)
Worm Poop!!- composted oily hairmat fertilizer $10 each packet includes S&H After hair soaks up the oil, it can be mixed 9:1 with greenwaste, composted over 2 years, and fed to worms! The bacteria in the compost and worm tummies break down the oil and the worms create a fantastic fertilizer!
Really now, how cool is that?
Why are you still sitting there? Get up and get some scissors. Brush your dog. Give a little bit. Put it in a box and send it off. Then call your barber, salon, pet groomer. Have the address in your pocket as you travel around town.
Get moving
